North Iowa Massage Therapy Center
Providing Complementary Therapies for Health Maintenance

When I was to join the IHFC board, I pondered thoughts of my healing arts heritage came to mind:my great
grandfather and grandmother were known to many in the area as “faith healers”.  My parents were always
interested in food supplements taking me to nutritional informational meetings as a child growing up. As a
teenager, my parents turned their interest into a  very small family business.  As a piece of a jigsaw puzzle we
are all interconnected and yet different in our diversity of healing.  Just as in the days of my greatgrandfather
and grandmother,  and my family we all benefit when we join our thoughtful efforts and willing spirits to
support another’s wellness.  It seems wherever I go …I end up talking to someone about complementary
and alternative health care.  I have yet to meet a stranger!

Lu Rodemeyer is a Licensed Massage Therapist who owns and operates North Iowa Massage Therapy
Center in Hampton. She has extensive training from Cedar Valley College of Massage Therapy in Waterloo,
graduating in July of 2002. Lu has continued her education with additional programs such as: The Upledger
Institute; learning Advanced Craniosacral Therapy at Esalen at Big Sur, California. Lu completed the
Professional Practitioner Certification in Compassionate Touch® with Dawn Newson and Ann Catlin in June
2007.

Using massage techniques we can help our bodies overcome the stress and strain and reach a healing
state.  She uses massage which incorporates craniosacral therapy, quantum-touch, myofascial release with
trigger point therapy, SomatoEmotional Release, Reiki, BodyTalk, Zero-balancing and Raindrop Therapy with
Young Living Oils essential oils. She also believes in working with chakras and meridians and will often do
an energy balancing work for clients.

My hobby  is collecting antique electrical fans.  I have been a member of the  Antique Fan Collectors
Association since 1993.    In 1998, I was awarded the Michael G. Breedlove award. The Michael G. Breedlove
"Brass Fan Award" is the highest honor given by the AFCA each year. It is awarded to a member who has
served well beyond the call of duty to support the organization in a variety of ways. They include, but are not
limited to: hosting regional meets, contributing material to the Fan Collector magazine, and the promotion of
good will among collectors both within and outside the organization.  My three favorite fans in my collection
include a 1895 FLY FAN, 1932 Victor Luminaire, 1936 Silver Swan fan which was the only fan that was
designed and manufactured by a woman.
